Dear members:

As we enter the fourth quarter of the 2021 consumer holiday season, I am still stunned by the employment figures that claim continued job growth as millions of positions remain vacant as American workers are struggling with new career choices and concerns about the coronavirus (COVID-19) and related vaccination mandates in the workplace.

That being said, our Chamber fully supports the Town of Elmhurst’s Elmhurst Loves Local COOL TO BE KIND campaign, encouraging consumers to be patient and kind during this time of nationwide staff shortages.

Second fundraiser for Nashville songwriters
Thanks in part to financial support from the Explore Elmhurst Community Grant in the Town of Elmhurst, our Chamber and Extension 187 will co-host the second annual Nashville Songwriters Fundraiser in the Normandy Hall on Saturday October 16 from 18 a.m. to 10 p.m. Click HERE to purchase an $ 85 ticket, which is limited, and / or enter as a sponsor $ 500 Blue, $ 250 Red or $ 100 White.

The Nashville Songwriter event will feature the return of country singer / songwriter Jason Sever, a native Texan who has worked for the past 20 years at Music City USA, as a solo artist, studio musician and performer. ‘ensemble, as well as singers, songwriters and record producers Frank Myers and Anthony Smith.

A former member of the duo Baker & Myers, Myers is three times nominated for the American Country Music (ACM) and County Music Academy (CMA) awards for “Duo of the Year”. His success spanned more than four decades in the music industry, including a dozen No. 1 hits – starting with “You and I” in 1982 and including “I Swear” from 1994 – and 20 charts. Top 10. He has written and produced Who’s Who recorded songs of over 50 country and pop artists.

Anthony Smith has over 250 of his songs, including “If That Ain’t Country” in 2002, recorded by Nashville artists ranging from George Strait to Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw to Rascal Flatts and Trace Adkins to Faith Hill.

Company study on minorities and women
The Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) is conducting a disparity study in its Business Enterprise Program (BEP) for Minority and Women-owned Enterprises (MWBE) to examine whether MWBE have equal access to procurement opportunities.

An electronic survey will be released in late fall 2021, small group business owner sessions will be scheduled for early winter 2021, and written comments can be emailed to CMS-study @ mbelaw .com.

Our chamber is one of a dozen members of the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce Executives (WSCCE) who are teaming up to host an incredible Danube Cruise aboard the 5-star MS Amadeus from October 12-21, 2022, as well as an optional three-night pre-cruise. stay in Prague.
