Greater Lafayette Commerce and Skyepack Create Kindergarten to Grade 12 Manufacturing Program
TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) –Grand Lafayette Commerce teamed up with a local tech company Skyepack. The two groups have created a K-12 manufacturing education program.
GLC held a press conference today to present the new digital interactive program. It aims to teach students about manufacturing and career possibilities.
The course provides concrete examples of companies. Skyepack CEO Eric Davis said it would help communities that need to educate young people about the opportunities at their local manufacturers.
“We have a lot of job openings and we need more of our young people to start considering these careers and this is a way for us to really get that message out and get students to start thinking this way. “said Davis.
TSC Superintendent Scott Hanback said it would get kids thinking about their future earlier.
“It really opens their eyes and gives them a big picture of what their future might look like here in Lafayette, Indiana,” Hanback said.
