Pixel 6 is ‘best-selling Pixel ever’ as I/O hardware teases

After touting a “quarterly sales record” during the last earnings call, Sundar Pichai today declared the Pixel 6 to be the “best-selling Pixel of all time”. The Alphabet CEO also teased more hardware and Android announcements for I/O 2022.

Pixel 6 is a huge step forward for the Pixel wallet. And it was great to see the response from Pixel users. It’s the best-selling Pixel of all time. And we are developing broad brand awareness among consumers and making good progress. I’m excited about the products we’ll be releasing and look forward to sharing more on Google I/O.

This excitement more or less confirms the hardware announcements at the developer conference next month, similar to Google I/O 2019. The Pixel 6a and the Pixel Watch are very likely candidates.

Meanwhile, Pichai said the Android team “will be showcasing at I/O the many useful features and services provided by Android and its platforms.”

Over the next few years, we’ll continue to invest in new form factors, seamless cross-device experiences, and raising the bar for user privacy while giving developers the tools they need to succeed on mobile.

Later this year, YouTube on TVs will get “new navigation and interactivity features for smartphone control.” It will allow people to comment and share the videos they watch (on big screens) with their phones. There are over 2 billion users logged into YouTube every month.
