Two small but successful San Diego businesses Yerbuzz and Sauce goddess, progress in Walmart coveted Open call competition, according to a spokesperson for the large retail provider.

Businesses are looking for the opportunity to work with the retailer to have the opportunity to place their products in Walmart stores and Sam’s Clubs.

Yerbuzz, which makes the hard product Seltzer Hard Yerba Mate, is the brainchild of the founder and CEO Dan Nierman, who grew up in Rancho Santa Fe. Local entrepreneur Jennifer reynolds is the founder of Sauce Goddess Gourmet Products, which makes the best-selling barbecue sauces.

The two were among 900 potential product suppliers invited to showcase their products to buyers at Walmart and Sam’s Club earlier this year. They are now among the 167 in the country who are taking the next step.

Overall, more than 17 small California businesses are advancing.

The open appeal represents Walmart’s $ 350 billion pledge to boost the U.S. manufacturing sector, according to a press release.

In addition to increased spending on more diverse suppliers, the company estimates that its latest multi-billion dollar commitment will create 750,000 jobs and prevent 100 million metric tonnes of CO.2 emissions, a fundamental source of climate change, by sourcing as close as possible to its customers.

Ingo Hentschel

Cable TV and Internet supplier Cox Communications announces that Ingo Hentschel is his new regional director for California, overseeing operations in San Diego and Orange County as well as Palos Verdes and Santa Barbara. He succeeds Sam attisha, who was hired to lead a new national team for the company.

According to a press release, Hentschel, a former U.S. Navy, held a variety of leadership positions during his 30 years at Cox, most recently as vice president of field operations for California. Hentschel and Attisha will be based in San Diego.

the Ramona Chamber of Commerce scheduled its annual Ramona Country Fair from July 30 to August 1. The event would have celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2020, but it was canceled due to closures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“After the events of the past two years, this is a way to bring the community back there safely to a family and fun environment,” said Stephanie Macdonald, the member of the chamber who is in charge of the fair.

“We really want this to be something we can give to our city,” she said.

The three-day event will feature rides, games and prizes, numerous food and craft vendors, award-winning wines, music and other forms of entertainment. Click here for more information on the event and times.

North County Mall North of the city of San Marcos has a new “culinary tenant”, inspired Italian cuisine Bona Forchetta. The 120-seat restaurant represents an expansion of the owner Matteo cattaneo restaurant in popular South Park neighborhood in San Diego.

The North County development, which is located off State Highway 78 near Twin Oaks Valley Road, includes 3,000 residential units including Cal State San Marcos student housing, 375,000 square feet of retail, 750,000 square feet of commercial office and 20 acres of parks and trails. Sea breeze properties is the developer.

San Diego Healthcare IT Company Xfin says it acquired the Simi Valley-based company Computerized management services, which provides revenue management services to hospital radiology groups and imaging centers.

A spokesperson explains that radiology departments and imaging centers face higher workloads as well as various obstacles to boost operations, with many facing declining reimbursements and fee reductions. She said the acquisition will provide radiology centers with the technology they need to better manage their business operations.

Finally, this article to note: Ever popular consumer food product of 74 years Hot Dog on a Stick goes mobile in San Diego. Connie and Gary Barham, the current San Diego-based owners are adding a local food truck to their operations starting July 18. Gary is the son of the founder of the company Dave barham and has been involved in the business for most of its life.

The truck, which can be booked for private events, can serve up to 1,000 people per hour. Other food items will include fries, funnel cake and lemonade, along with other offerings. The company has existing trucks in other parts of Southern California and Las Vegas.
