World Mental Health Day: Rubina Dilaik to Jasmin Bhasin, celebrities who emerged stronger after coping with depression

During her time on Bigg Boss 14, Rubina Dilaik opened up about battling depression and suicidal thoughts. During a weekend episode with Salman Khan, Salman was asked if she had anger management issues. She then revealed that she battled depression 9 years ago and even had suicidal tendencies. Later in an interview, Rubina then shared how being constantly too much at work and not having time to make friends and other things made her depressed. She said: “You just can’t figure out what’s going on. You start thinking ‘why am I irritable, why isn’t anyone around. Why can’t I pass? Too many questions and no answers. There I realized that the problem is somewhere inside. There are many things that I cannot understand, but there is also no one to guide me. We have no formal education about it, nobody talks about depression. In her conversation, she also revealed that seeking real help and surrounding herself with loved ones helped her overcome it.

Ankita Lokhande

After the unfortunate passing of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, Ankita Lokhande was trolled online and received hate on social media. To respond to this negativity, the actress took to her social media handle and during her live session, she revealed how she dealt with depression and how she came out of it stronger with the help of her loved ones. She said: “I went through depression myself. I was in a bad phase, I was in a lot of pain and I was crying a lot. But I only had my family, my friends and a few fans who were with me. from the beginning. I really respect that. But jinhe mein pasand nahi hun, I tell you very frankly not to follow me anymore but stop blaming me for everything.

Arti Singh

Popular actress Arti Singh spoke about depression and her reluctance to talk about it. In an interview with Etimes, Arti shared earlier that there was a time when she had everything career-wise but was still broken inside. She said: “People around me didn’t know until it started to show on my face. I was lucky to have people I could talk to and share with them what was going on. was going on in my life and they stood by my side like a rock and didn’t judge me. A depressed patient really needs to pull themselves together to get out of the situation. Of course, people will listen to us, but in the end, we have to to help.

Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia

Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, now a Bigg Boss 16 contestant, recalled the confusion everyone around her had regarding her situation. Earlier in an interview, Nimrit shared, “Most people didn’t understand what was going on. There is a certain lack of education attached to mental health. We are all familiar with terms like anxiety and depression. I was diagnosed with brain exhaustion. Everyone was very confused as to what it was. They were throwing around assumptions like something was wrong with my personal life and that’s why it was triggering.” Nimrit also shared how her mental health journey with her fans via social media has never worried her for her image. She said, “I felt like I had to be honest with my fans who connect with me. They should also know the descents and speed breakers that come my way.”

Jasmine Bhasin

Jasmin Bhasin, while chatting with Bollywood Bubble, went on to share how trying her difficult days were when she first moved to Mumbai. She said that being rejected at several auditions shook her confidence and she began to lose faith in herself. “I was losing confidence in myself. I thought I had flaws, my skin had flaws, I didn’t look good and that’s why I face rejection everyday. On how she overcame it all, the actress revealed that only self-love can help end this battle. She said that you have to accept yourself as you are.

Parth Samthaan

Parth Samthaan, who is among the prominent names in the world of showbiz, was also going through a bad phase during the COVID-19 pandemic and had previously shared an Instagram post thanking his loved ones for helping him become a better person. He also said there had been moments of depression during the lockdown but now he is ready to face the world again. The note read, “I am grateful and thankful to all of my loved ones, friends, fans and all those people who have helped and influenced me to become a better and positive person. Thank you very much.” He wrote in the caption: “Yes there have been moments of depression and sadness during this confinement, but that is what gives us the strength to be stronger and to push ourselves so that a day when this pandemic is over.. Kamya Punjabi

Kamya Panjabi was part of the popular Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Kii which also featured Rubina Dilaik. At the end of the show, Kamya explained how she was affected by the end of the show and wanted to continue working. Shakti was gifted to Kamya Panjabi when she was going through the worst phase of her life. At the time, she had just broken up with actor Karan Patel, but the show gave her new life. In a chat with Etimes, Kamya said, “Shakti gave me a new life. I was in depression when I joined the show. Karan got married in 2015 and I was unable to work for almost a year. I was in a very bad state when I joined the show in 2016. Iss show ne mujhe zinda rakha aur ek nayi zindagi dee. I immersed myself in the work and came out of this phase gradually.
